The t+ Medical Board
Richard Moon (Non Executive Chairman)
Mr Moon spent his working life in industry operating in four business sectors: IT, Defence, Telecoms and Civil Aerospace.
- Mr Moon held a series of positions at EMI Electronics in design engineering, production engineering and project management before becoming MD of Thorn Automation in 1992 and Thorn EMI Sensors Group in 1994.
- In 1996 Mr Moon joined Racal Electronics and became MD of Racal Radio Ltd and in 1998 joined the parent board as Chief Executive of Racal Defence Electronics. Following the acquisition of Racal Electronics by Thomson-CSF he joined the executive board of Thomson-CSF.
- In 2000, following the name change to Thales he became Chief Executive of Thales Plc upon its formation. He was also appointed Chairman of Thales Research, Vice President of the FEI and invited by the Government to join the National Defence Industry Council (NDIC).
- In 2002 Mr Moon formed Synergie Business Ltd.
- Mr Moon also sits on a number of other boards of companies in the technical and telecommunications industry. These include Netia SA (Poland's alternative listed Telecoms company), Acal Plc (a footsie listed value added distributor), Vivista Ltd (supplying software and communication solutions to the public safety market), Oxford BioSignals (an Oxford University spin out providing complex signal processing and neural network solutions for the medical and aerospace sectors) and Securistyle Ltd (a specialist manufacturing company).
Mr Moon is a fellow of the Royal Society of the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce and a member of the Institute of Directors.
Tim Clover (CEO)Mr Clover has 17 years of medical and healthcare commercial experience spanning pharmaceuticals, medical devices and consumer healthcare products, including;
- 6 years with Allergan Inc including being a founder of the spin-off company Advanced Medical Optics listed on NYSE in June 2002 in the position Vice President, Europe, Middle East and Africa.
- 4 years with Gillette Group as a Sales and Marketing Director for the Oral-B and Braun product ranges.
Mr Clover graduated from York University with a joint honours degree in Mathematics and Physics. He also holds an MBA.
Professor Lionel Tarassenko (co-founder and Director)Professor Tarassenko has over 20 years of experience in electrical engineering, especially in signal processing techniques and their application to diagnostic systems. He is the author of 10 patents, 85 refereed publications, 80 conference papers and 3 books.
- In 1988, having held a number of positions in academia and industry, Professor Tarassenko took up a University Lecturership in Oxford.
- In 1996 he was elected to a Fellowship of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) as well as being awarded the IEE Mather Premium for his work on neural networks.
- Since 1997 Professor Tarassenko has held the Chair in Electrical Engineering at Oxford University.
- In 2000 Professor Tarassenko was elected to a Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
- In 2001 he was awarded the Rolls-Royce Chairman's Award for Technical Innovation for his research on jet engine health monitoring.
- In 2003 his work on mobile phones for healthcare was highly commended at the Medical Futures Innovation Awards.
- Professor Tarassenko was Scientific Co-ordinator for the Office of Science & Technology (DTI) Foresight Project on Cognitive Systems from 2002 to 2004. He is also a member of the ICT Strategy Assessment Team of the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council.
- In addition to being a founder director of e-San, he has been a founder director of ThirdPhase Ltd (acquired by the Cmed Group in February 2002) and is a director of Oxford BioSignals Ltd.
- Over the last ten years, he has received more than six million pounds in research grants from EPSRC, DTI, the Wellcome Trust, the EU and directly from industry.
Professor Tarassenko gained a BA in Engineering Science and a DPhil in Medical Engineering from Oxford University.
Allan Cockell (Non Executive Director)- Allan is a graduate of Magdalen College, where he read Modern History. He joined the t+ Medical board in September 2004 as the representative of Comvest Limited, of which he is chairman.
- From 1985 to 1990, Allan was with Swiss Bank Corporation in fixed income and equity derivatives, ultimately as Head Swaps Trader in London. He then moved to the financial markets subsidiary of AIG, the US insurer, until 1993. During 1993 and 1994 Allan ran a Bermuda-based "macro" hedge fund before he returned to AIG as Global Head of Trading. Allan left AIG in May 1999 to pursue private investments.
- In parallel with Comvest, Allan is a founder and director of MMC Ventures, a London-based venture capital syndicate of successful businessmen who invest together in start-up and early stage companies.
Mr Peggram brings 16 years of experience in senior and influential positions within city financial institutions and Venture Capital companies, including
- 10 years in AIG financial products rising to the rank of Managing Director
- 5 years as a Partner in a VC specialising in seed funding of technical/medical innovation
- Non-Executive chairman of one of the largest Italian equity funds
Mr Peggram graduated from Cambridge University with an honours degree in Economics. He has a proven track record in the successful development of start-ups in the medi-tech arena.
